I regularly host workshops and provide individual coaching for musicians and other artists.
Having been fortunate enough to view the music industry from multiple perspectives, I have collected my experiences into a series of workshops, as well as providing one-on-one coaching and strategy sessions. My focus is to demystify the music industry, and to provide independent artists at all levels with the tools to create music, release it, build a fanbase and develop goals and plans for their career.
What do you want and how are you going to get there?
Building a music career is not a case of wishful thinking. We need to understand ourselves, our industry and our environment in order to set the right kind of goals and make the right kind of plans towards achieving those goals.
Creating an audience doesn’t have to be a mystery.
Finding and developing your audience is as essential to your career as your music. Using your own music as a guide is it possible to locate yourself in the global music landscape and discover who and where your potential audience are - and how to get your music in front of them.
The process of releasing and promoting your music should receive the same effort and attention as the recording. The more organised and focused your promo campaign, the more value you will get out of all the hard you put into creating it.

"There are a lot of big impossible promises online around music marketing for independent musicians. What has been missing is a steady, practical and achievable plan to grow audiences and monetize your art in a genuinely understandable way. Until Gil Hockman. This is quite possibly the most powerful instruction manual for indie artists in the music biz"
"Gil Hockman is a freelance tutor and lecturer at Music Pool Berlin. His extensive experience makes him perfectly suited to teach our target group (aspiring and experienced freelance music creators). His workshops and courses are usually fully booked and we often have to organise repeat appointments due to the high demand."
"With many years experience in the business, Gil is right at the cutting edge of the ever moving target that is the music industry. Gil is exceptionally well versed in all of the numerous aspects necessary for the independent artist in 2021. Perhaps most importantly, he is an absolute pleasure to work with and forever open to accommodating a specific artist's needs and their intended outcomes. Highly recommended!"
"Gil Hockman has been a mentor for me through most of my music career. He’s great at identifying potential weaknesses, and then finding targeted ways to build good habits that strengthen them. His experience in (and knowledge of!) the industry is worth its weight in gold."
Gil Hockman's Workshop about Career, Audience and Art Management was just inspiring! It was a perfect combination of gaining knowledge, reflecting on oneself as an artist and reconsidering your own values. I never thought I would get so much useful information and I am so thankful!
Gil is super friendly and just a wholesome person. He also answered my questions after finishing the course and made every effort. Highly recommended!

Gil’s workshop is very insightful and it helped me build an audience for the band I manage that would help not only target the right people but also understand where to focus to find many new opportunities based on this thorough research using Gil’s methods.
Gilad helped me to understand how the current music market works and the possibilities available to independent music. He opened my eyes - and gave me serious practical advice on how to proceed - with professionalism and great honesty. He is a generous, friendly person who is very passionate about teaching, and has musicians' careers at heart.

Having studied in NYC with some of the finest marketing specialists of the performing arts I was truly amazed to find such an excellent and skilful music business coach in Gil. His training unites profound knowledge of the music business, sharp irreverent cleverness and creativity in developing individual goal plans. One gets the impression he teaches straight from his heart being a gifted and established musician himself. He keeps his coachings engaging and compelling with a great sense of humour, so even dry topics become easy to follow.
